Alliance City School District is Hiring a Substitute Teacher Aide Near Alliance, OH

Position:  Substitute Teacher Aide

Category: Classified

Currently: As Needed 

Reports to: Building Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent required – college training preferred.
  2. Must meet certification requirements of the State Department of Education (Teacher Aide Certificate)
  3. Paraprofessional Certificate Required OR minimum 48 semester hours with an accredited college or university.
  4. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  5. Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
  6. Residence in the taxing district of Alliance City Schools is preferred.
  7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Records and helps to administer such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students or groups.
  2. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  3. Types and duplicates instructional materials as needed by the classroom teacher.
  4. Helps contact parents for the scheduling of conferences or for help in emergency situations.
  5. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
  6. Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
  7. Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  8. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
  9. Assist with or initiates cleanup and housekeeping routines.
  10. Assists in the first aid treatment of students, contacts nurse and/or parents if needed.
  11. Performs clerical work and maintains files as assigned by the teacher.
  12. Assists teacher in duties relating to the supervision of activities.
  13. Types and processes orders, reports, forms, schedules, letters, etc.
  14. Maintains current inventory of supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.
  15. Distributes and collects books, papers, and other materials for instruction.
  16. Catalogues and files instructional materials and maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and prepares orders or requisitions for needed material.
  17. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
  18. Performs duties as assigned by a supervisor in an emergency.
  19. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of the teacher.
  20. Collects and records fees and moneys.
  21. Operates and cares for equipment used in classrooms for instructional purposes.
  22. Keeps bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up to date.
  23. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
  24. Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
  25. Assists with wash-up and toilet routines.
  26. Provides student assistance during lunch, play periods, field trips or emergency drills.
  27. Provide study hall supervision in accordance with the directions and guidelines of the building principal.
  28. Attends in-services, training programs and/or meetings as required by Board Policy, the Superintendent of Schools, or the State Department of Education.

Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
